VALS Consultancy does not operate as a traditional full service wedding planning company. Instead, the business focuses on wedding planning mentorship, wellbeing-led guidance, planning support, and emotional reassurance for couples navigating the pressures of wedding planning.
Wedding planners play an important role in bringing a wedding together. They manage logistics, coordinate suppliers, and help ensure the day runs smoothly. Their work is practical, structured, and focused on the details of the wedding day. However, a wedding wellness mentor considers more than logistics alone, recognising the practical realities and the emotional experience of the couple throughout the planning process.
But planning a wedding is rarely just about logistics.
For many couples, the process is emotionally demanding. There are decisions to make, expectations to manage, opinions to navigate, and pressure that quietly builds over time. This is where a different kind of support can make a meaningful difference.
Wedding Planning Support Beyond Logistics
A wedding mentor supports the experience of planning, not just the outcome. The focus is not only on timelines or supplier lists, but on how couples feel while navigating the process and how decisions impact them practically and emotionally.
As a wedding wellness mentor, my work goes a step further. I support couples emotionally and mentally, while actively protecting their wellbeing throughout the journey. This means creating space to slow things down when everything feels overwhelming. Helping couples think clearly when they feel pulled in different directions. Supporting them when they feel unheard, pressured, or unsure of their choices.
This support does not replace the practical and logistical role of a traditional wedding planner, but it also does not require you to have one. Some couples work with a wedding planner and choose to have this support alongside the planning process. Others plan their wedding themselves and use this guidance as their primary source of support. Both approaches are equally valid.
Couples still have access to professional wedding industry guidance, trusted recommendations, planning insight, and practical support throughout the process, without the higher costs often associated with traditional full planning services.
This may include venue research support, supplier guidance, and help navigating important planning decisions with greater clarity and confidence.
Because of my background as a former international wedding planner established since 2009, I understand how weddings are structured from start to finish. I have managed suppliers, negotiated contracts, worked within complex budgets, and supported couples through high pressure environments. This allows me to guide couples through the planning process even when they are managing it themselves, helping them avoid common and costly mistakes, stay organised, think clearly, and feel supported without handing the planning over to someone else.
A Wellbeing-Led Approach to Wedding Planning
Many couples feel they have to push through wedding planning. To stay positive. To keep everyone happy. To avoid rocking the boat. Over time, this can lead to stress, exhaustion, and a sense of losing themselves in the process.
My work is shaped by experience. I’m Sharon Valentine, a former international wedding planner established since 2009, with years of industry knowledge behind me. I’ve worked across complex weddings, high-pressure environments, and emotionally charged situations. That experience is what led me to create something different.
I am now a wedding wellness mentor. This is not traditional mentoring based solely on motivation or accountability. It is an industry informed, wellbeing led approach designed to protect couples from burnout, overwhelm, financial stress, and emotional overload during wedding planning.
How Wedding Wellness Mentoring Supports Couples in Practice
Through one-to-one support, clarity sessions, and vent sessions, I help couples unravel what feels heavy, confusing, or overwhelming. Some couples need space to talk things through. Others need help gaining perspective, confidence, or reassurance around decisions. There are also mentorship-style services for those who want ongoing guidance throughout their planning journey.
Some couples want support throughout the entire planning process. Others need guidance at specific points when things feel particularly intense. Support through VALS Consultancy can be accessed at any stage of the planning process, whether you’re just beginning, partway through, or nearing the final weeks before your wedding.
I don’t plan your wedding for you. I guide you through it, using my professional experience to help you think clearly, assess options realistically, understand consequences, and make decisions that feel right for you.
This longer blog builds on the shorter introduction that outlines the key differences between a wedding planner and a wedding mentor. It exists to explain why wellbeing-focused guidance can make such a difference for couples who want to enjoy the planning process rather than simply get through it.
You are not choosing between a planner and emotional support. You are choosing informed guidance that understands both.
