FAQs – General Wedding Planning

What is the average cost of a wedding?

Wedding costs vary significantly depending on location, guest numbers, venue choice, and personal preferences. Industry reports suggest that the average UK wedding cost as of June 2026 is approximately £20,000 to £25,000, although many weddings fall above or below this range.

It is important to remember that averages are simply a guide. Your wedding should be based on what feels comfortable and realistic for your circumstances.

My approach is not to encourage couples to spend the industry average. Instead, I help couples make informed decisions based on their own budget, priorities, and vision.

There is no one size fits all answer, but many couples spend up to 250 hours planning their wedding, which is roughly equivalent to six full working weeks spread around daily commitments. Some weddings can be organised in as little as a few months, while others may be spread over two or three years, particularly if couples are saving gradually or securing suppliers well in advance.

The earlier you begin, the more choice you will typically have when it comes to venues and suppliers. Starting early can also help spread costs over a longer period, making the process feel more manageable.

As part of my support service, I help couples identify priorities, create realistic timelines, and understand which decisions need to be made first, helping to reduce overwhelm and avoid unnecessary stress.

While wedding insurance is a personal decision, many couples choose to take out cover once they have started paying deposits and booking suppliers.

Modern weddings often involve multiple suppliers, venues, and contracts, sometimes booked months or even years in advance. Although most professional suppliers work hard to protect their businesses and clients, nobody can predict future circumstances or unforeseen events.

Wedding insurance may provide peace of mind by offering protection in certain situations, depending on the policy chosen and its terms and conditions.

If you are planning your wedding over an extended period, securing suppliers early can often help you access greater choice and availability. However, the longer the planning journey, the more important it becomes to consider how you would protect your investment should unexpected circumstances arise.

As part of my support service, I can help you understand what questions to ask suppliers before booking, review contracts with you, and discuss practical steps that may help reduce risk throughout the planning process. However, I always recommend seeking independent advice regarding insurance products to ensure you choose cover that is appropriate for your individual needs.

Many brides feel overwhelmed during the early stages of wedding planning, especially when faced with endless decisions, timelines, budgets, supplier choices, and outside opinions all at once.

Starting with small, manageable steps and focusing on what truly matters to you as a couple can help make the process feel calmer and more structured. You do not need to have everything figured out immediately, and it is okay to take things one step at a time.

Trying to keep everyone happy can quickly become emotionally draining during wedding planning. It is important to remember that your wedding should still reflect your relationship, values, and what feels meaningful to you as a couple, even when outside opinions become overwhelming.

Many brides quietly struggle with feeling unheard, emotionally overlooked, or pressured to meet everyone else’s expectations throughout the planning process.

Wedding Planning: Feeling Unseen As A Bride

Wedding planning can quickly become emotionally overwhelming when family, friends, and social media all influence decision making. This support helps bring the focus back to what truly matters to you as a couple.

Many couples struggle balancing wedding planning alongside work, family commitments, and busy schedules. Personalised research and guidance support helps reduce the pressure by saving valuable time throughout the process.

Yes, for many brides and couples, wedding planning can become emotionally overwhelming at times. The pressure of budgets, timelines, family expectations, supplier decisions, and trying to create the “perfect” day can sometimes lead to stress, anxiety, emotional burnout, or feeling mentally exhausted throughout the process.

Many people do not realise how emotionally demanding wedding planning can become, especially when balancing everyday responsibilities alongside constant decision making and outside opinions.

Taking time to slow down, ask for support, and protect your emotional wellbeing throughout the planning journey is incredibly important but seems overlooked.

Wedding Mental Health: Prioritize Your Wellbeing

Many brides begin wedding planning feeling excited and hopeful, only to later find themselves emotionally overwhelmed by the pressure, expectations, constant decisions, and responsibilities that build throughout the process, to the point where it can almost begin to feel like taking on a full time job.

It is far more common than people realise to feel emotionally stretched, disconnected from the excitement, or unsure how to enjoy the journey again. But by taking a step back, simplifying priorities, and creating space to process how you truly feel can often help restore a greater sense of calm, balance, and clarity moving forward.

Wedding planning can involve a huge number of financial decisions, often within a very short period of time. Many couples worry about overspending, booking the wrong suppliers, overlooking hidden costs, or making rushed decisions under pressure.

Feeling overwhelmed can sometimes lead to emotional spending, panic booking, or agreeing to things that do not truly align with your priorities, budget, or vision for the day.

Taking a calmer, more informed approach to planning can help reduce unnecessary stress and avoid costly decisions made from overwhelm rather than clarity.

Initial pricing and availability guidance can also be explored during the research stage, although all final communication, contracts, and bookings remain directly between you and the supplier.
